WRITING A KILLER ABOUT US PAGE

The about us page may be one of the most important pages you will ever have on your e-commerce website.

Why?

The about us page will tell visitors everything that your business does, it’s a chance to expand upon your businesses activities and to introduce its team, its history and specialties.

It allows your potential customers to get to know you and show that your business is genuine and trustworthy, so essentially they will buy from you.

In addition to that, it is amazing from an SEO perspective.

It allows search engines to understand what your business is and to tell them what you offer. By using key words and phrases, it will also to improve your search engine ranking.

No clue what to write?

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • The history of your business and how long it's been established for
  • What do you do in your shop, so what kind of things do you sell?
  • What do you specialize in or what are you popular for
  • Why do customers buy from you?
  • Maybe even add a story about how you came up with the name. In fact, spice it up by adding some photos.
  • Maybe try adding your key locations too for example Hampshire, Lancashire etc.
  • Include social proof such as testimonials, ratings and reviews etc.

Include different forms of media

Make your about us page visually attractive by considering the use of photos, videos and infographics. If people are intending to find more about your business and page, it makes sense to capture their attention for as long as possible.

Consider adding a timeline, as it incorporates a strong image and design while still providing your customers important information that they need.

Consider your audience

Imagine who your readers are, what do they do? What are their requirements?

Think about what they are looking for and how your business can fulfill it.

The type of language you use in your page must be readable by anybody.

Keep your language simple, easy to read and avoid using jargon.

Ensure you update it regularly

There are people that would want to know what your business is and what you are currently doing, not what you were doing years ago.

We suggest running through your page every month or two to make sure the information you have it up to date.

Once you are happy with what you have written, we recommend proof reading it, just for mistakes.

Once you are confident with it, you can now publish it
